celebrating Freedom!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  Love holiday weekends with an extra day to hang out with family.  It's over 90 out and with my allergies kicking in,  air conditioning is my friend.  I just can't enjoy the outdoors while my head is plugged or I'm sneezing constantly,  LOL!    I love that my craft desk faces the window and I can enjoy watching the birds at the bird feeder and see the sunshine.   It's probably as close as I'm getting to outside this weekend.

This week's challenge over at Paper Secrets CYAO16 card challenge was to choose your own sketch, use red, white & blue and add stars.   It worked for me because I had printed out the Deconstructed Sketch No. 53 and found some cute BoBunny papers for the holiday weekend.

I do want to remember those who serve our Country.   It's so easy to think this is just an extra day off work but it's really like the 4th of July,  a great time to remember how thankful we are for Freedom!   I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend!   Be Safe,  Stay Inspired!

You're A Hoot!

Fun Times!   I made this card for the CYAO 14 Challenge over at Paper Secrets.  Every week they post a scrapbook and card sketch with some choices to add and the contest is to see who gets their page and card done weekly.   It's week 14 and I'm still having a great time using the sketches and items that are chosen.   This card was inspired by my Great Grandma who is 91 today.  She definitely makes you chuckle and has for as long as I've known her.  I hope she enjoyed her birthday.   The card sketch came from this week's sketch over at Card Positioning Systems #264.  Fun sketch to use.

Happy Thoughts

We all have moments when life just gets more than we can handle.  This card is for a friend of mine who is just feeling weighed down by life.   It's upside down and she's stressed.  I'm hoping after spending time listening and a card arriving in the mail will really express how much I do care.   I've been there,  we probably all have been there.   Sometimes it's hard to get up when we're feeling knocked down.  I'm confident she's down but not out.

This card went perfectly with this week's challenge over at Perfect Sentiments ... "Get Well Without Getting Well".    The sketch is from this week's Freshly Made Sketches.

the Biggest Wish

Not only is this week Mother's Day but it's also my MIL Birthday.    My hubby was out this week picking up an Anniversary Card and while he was out he bought a Mother's Day card for his Mom.  He came home and told me he had a terrible time picking a card he liked and he couldn't believe he paid over $10 for 2 cards!   He very sweetly said my cards were better and he was hoping I was making a birthday card for his Mom because she would like it better .... aawww!    I was already planning on making her a card, she does always call and say how much she appreciates them.   I didn't have the heart to tell DH that I had already made a Mother's Day card for his Mom as well ... it will be our little secret.

This cute card sketch came from May Card Challenge over at sb.com.   I added ribbon and a birthday sentiment which works just perfectly for the Twisted Tuesday Challenge this week.

"Ugly Paper" Challenge

This month over at Friends That Scrap we're having a challenge to use "UGLY" paper.   To make the challenge a little more difficult,  we chose the ugliest papers from our stash and sent them to another so the "UGLY" paper that we're using is from someone else's stash.   I was a little worried.   Bless my partner Mary's heart, she must have been doing a MUCH better job over the last few years selecting paper because the paper she sent me wasn't so bad ... actually it came together great for some Grad Cards I needed to get busy on.   The vellum on the card is the "UGLY" stuff she sent me,  the rest is Close To My Heart cardstock.   I started this card with this week's Card Patterns Sketch 164.  Of course I had to add a little to the sketch to get my sentiment on the card but inspiration is always welcome!

Supplies:  "UGLY" paper vellum unk,  Cardstock CTMH Outdoor Denim, Desert Sand, Bamboo;  Stamps CTMH c1454 Horizon, c1351 You Did It;  CTMH Bling,  CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cart,  CTMH Button Assortment,  White Organdy Ribbon

More NSD Challenges!

Woohoo!  I bet you can tell that I had FUN in my Scrap/Stamp Office on Saturday with all the National Scrapbook Day Challenges!   I'm just posting a couple more of my cards that were completed thanks to the gals at Perfect Sentiments who decided that NSD wasn't just for scrapping!   You gals rock!   Although,  I have to admit,  I did more scrap pages than cards but all was good.

It's really fun because when you're "in the zone" the cards and pages seem to come together easier.   It might just be that all the major tools are already out (probably on the floor) and it makes it quick and easy to grab and go.   For Karen's challenge I used the sketch from this week's Paper Secrets CYAO13 Challenge.  This paper is some of my favorite right now because I just love the color - AMuse Studio burano.  Ooo--ooo-la-la!   My favorite dies right now seem to be butterflies and fortunately I have 3 different diecut sets.  This one is AMuse Studio Butterfly dies and fortunately I had some scraps of vellum as that was the twist in the challenge.   The AMuse Studio ladies challenge for this week is to use a diecut and it wasn't hard to choose.

Supplies:   AMuse Studio burano & wasabi paper,  AMuse Studio stamps best year ever,  AMuse Studio Ink french roast, burano, AMuse Studio butterfly die, AMuse Studio french roast button & twine

This card was for Tabitha's challenge.  Her challenge was for "Just a Note" and to use a cute sketch she provided.   I was so excited because I've had this package of notecards I bought out of the $.25 bin at PC's laying on my desk for awhile and as soon as I saw the challenge, I knew they were perfect for the sketch.  I used AMuse Heart Dies on this one (2nd fave diecuts after butterflies).  I have to admit,  I made 4 of these cards but the good news is all of them are already stamped and ready to mail out as they made perfect way to send some "thinking of you" wishes I've been wanting to get out!

Now WHERE did that Post Go?

I swear I've typed all of this in before?!  I can't figure out though where the post went?   I just jumped on to check out our monthly Blog Hop w/ all my SCS Crafty Girl Sisters ... and couldn't find my post for yesterday.   :(   That's what I get for not checking.    Truthfully,  yesterday I spent in craft paradise as it was National Scrapbook Day and my family was sweet enough to let me have the whole day for nothing but scrapping and stamping.   It was JUST what my MOJO needed.

Well,  on to my Blog Hop Card!   The theme this month is "Celebrating Those Who Love Us".  I knew just the sentiment I wanted to use and it wasn't hard to find a GREAT Card Sketch as this week's Twisted Tuesday Challenge not only was a great challenge to include pearls but card sketch included!  Perfect!   I changed up the sketch slightly to use a diecut for the sentiment and of course all those LOVELY butterflies for Perfect Sentiments NSD Challenge hosted by Teresa.    I used the AMuse Studio butterfly diecut!  Fun! Fun!

Be sure to check out all of the other SCS Crafty Girl Blogs celebrating the one's we Love!

Happy NSD!

Happy National Scrapbook Day!   It's like 4th of July for Scrappers!  We really should have fireworks tonight...of course midnight or so as we'll not be done with challenges any earlier than that!   You will laugh though...my first post is actually a card.   I made the card for my Step Dad who is recovering from heart surgery.   I chose the colors for the Friends That Scrap Challenge #1 - Use Yellow, Gray and 3rd Color of your choice.   Whenever I think of these colors,  I go right to this great pade of Photo Mats from My Mind's Eye Home Series.    The card sketch is from I Spy Sketches Challenge 12.   The Scripture Idea came from the NSD Challenges over at The Perfect Sentiment and this one is for Jenn's challenge at Paper Expressions.

More to come ... let the celebration continue!
